No Gain For Pain Of Wrongful Death: N.J. Governor

Law360, New York (January 16, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A controversial bill passed by New Jersey lawmakers that would have allowed families to sue for pain and suffering after wrongful death has been pocket-vetoed by Gov. Jon S. Corzine.

The measure, passed in the final hours of the last legislative session, was designed to expand the state's wrongful death act, which currently only allows surviving family members to sue for damages based on a victim's income and earning potential.
