Wide-Ranging 'Patent Troll' Bill Floated By Top Lawmakers

Law360, New York (May 24, 2013, 5:41 PM EDT) -- The rapidly-growing number of bills in Congress aimed at cracking down on so-called patent trolls expanded again Thursday when the leaders of the House and Senate judiciary committees unveiled comprehensive legislation that includes features from other bills introduced in recent weeks.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va. and his Senate counterpart, Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., whose committees have jurisdiction over patent legislation, said they were circulating the 38-page proposal as a discussion draft to start debate on how to address abusive litigation tactics by nonpracticing entities....
