Johnson Controls Buys Indian Partner Out Of JV

Law360, New York (May 28, 2013, 2:17 PM EDT) -- Johnson Controls Inc., a Michigan-based supplier of auto parts, has bought partner Indian steel giant Tata Group out of their 17-year-old Indian joint venture for an undisclosed sum, the company said Tuesday.

Johnson now owns 100 percent of Tata Johnson Controls, whose customers include Fiat, Honda, Ford, Mercedes and Tata's own carmaking division, all of which use India's cheap skilled labor and technology to churn out cars that are sold worldwide. The partnership has 11 locations across India, and some 2,100 employees, Johnson said.
