Indicted Texas Judge Rips Suit Seeking His Ouster

Law360, Houston (May 28, 2013, 5:13 PM ET) -- A Texas judge indicted on charges that he used his office to retaliate against attorneys practicing in his court fired back Monday at a lawsuit aimed at removing him from office, saying the effort violates state law.

Galveston County Court at Law Judge Christopher Dupuy said that attorney Greg Hughes and the Texas Attorney General's Office should be sanctioned for pursuing the “politically charged” suit, which has no legal basis in light of a statute that excludes his court from the normal procedure for disqualifying judges....
