FERC Chairman Wellinghoff Tenders His Resignation

Law360, New York (May 29, 2013, 2:26 PM EDT) -- Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Chairman Jon Wellinghoff has submitted his resignation to President Barack Obama, but will remain at the commission until a replacement is nominated and confirmed, a FERC spokesman confirmed Wednesday.

Wellinghoff, who has led the FERC since 2009, declined to comment on his resignation Wednesday. His term expires June 30, but he can continue to serve through a grace period that runs to the end of the current congressional session, FERC spokesman Craig Cano told Law360.
