Westchester Hospitals Enter Ch. 11 To Expedite $54M Sale

Law360, New York (May 30, 2013, 1:36 PM ET) -- Sound Shore Health System Inc., which operates not-for-profit medical facilities in southern Westchester County, N.Y., entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy with $200 million in debt on Tuesday, saying it plans to sell most of its assets to Montefiore Medical Center for about $54 million.

The hospital system, which includes Sound Shore Medical Center of Westchester and the Mount Vernon Hospital and serves working class patients regardless of their ability to pay, listed assets of $159.6 million. The system will continue operating during the bankruptcy, the company said....
