Avanir Sues Sandoz Over Nuedexta Generic

Law360, New York (May 31, 2013, 8:14 PM EDT) -- Avanir Pharmaceuticals Inc. on Thursday sued Sandoz Inc. in Delaware to block its attempt at marketing a generic version of involuntary-emotion drug Nuedexta, claiming Sandoz's copycat drug would infringe its patents.

Aliso Viejo, Calif.-based Avanir says it will be “substantially and irreparably damaged and harmed” is the court does not issue an order blocking Sandoz from marketing its Nuedexta generic. Nuedexta, a combination of drugs dextromethorphan and quinidine, is used to treat neurological conditions causing involuntary laughing or crying.
