Creditor Tries To Save Winston & Strawn From DQ

Law360, Los Angeles (May 31, 2013, 6:07 PM ET) -- Winston & Strawn LLP shouldn't be disqualified from representing a creditor in the Chapter 9 bankruptcies of Stockton and San Bernardino, Calif., because the firm's hiring of five lawyers who represented CalPERS doesn't amount to an "extreme" conflict, according to a filing Friday in California federal court.

Winston had recruited at least five lawyers — including one partner and two associates who performed more than 500 hours of legal services for CalPERS in the bankruptcies — from K&L Gates LLP, according to court filings. Winston argued...
