Obama Plan To Squelch 'Patent Trolls' May Come Up Short

Law360, New York (June 4, 2013, 7:51 PM EDT) -- The Obama administration on Tuesday dove into the debate over so-called patent trolls by introducing a package of legislative and executive proposals aimed at curbing frivolous lawsuits, but some patent attorneys are skeptical that the policy changes would be effective.

The White House said the measures — seven legislative bullet points and five executive orders — were designed to “protect innovators” from the growing number of lawsuits filed by trolls, otherwise known as nonpracticing entities or patent assertion entities.
