ACA Anti-Fraud Rules Strip 15K Of Medicare Billing Privileges

Law360, New York (June 6, 2013, 2:39 PM EDT) -- Nearly 15,000 health care providers and suppliers of medical equipment saw their Medicare billing privileges revoked over the past two years — more than double the pace of the preceding two years — as regulators deployed Affordable Care Act provisions to fight fraud, the Obama administration said Thursday.

The disclosure was the latest eye-popping figure to emerge from a stepped-up anti-fraud campaign that government officials say has recovered nearly $15 billion worth of improper billing over the past four years.
