USPTO Urged To Revisit 2 IPhone Patents From Samsung Row

Law360, New York (June 7, 2013, 5:47 PM EDT) -- An anonymous party recently asked the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to re-examine two Apple Inc. design patents covering the appearance of the iPhone that Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. has been found to infringe, arguing that the patents should be deemed obvious.

Two requests for ex parte review of the patents were filed anonymously with the USPTO on May 31. One of the patents was at issue in Apple's case against Samsung in California federal court, the other is at issue in an ongoing ITC case...
