NJ Lawmakers Float Public Contracting Reform Bill

Law360, New York (June 7, 2013, 6:48 PM EDT) -- A bipartisan bill that New Jersey lawmakers introduced Thursday proposes new cost estimate requirements for public agencies when soliciting bids for expensive construction projects and heftier guaranty amounts on contractors seeking government work, among other public contract changes.

Intended to create more transparency when governments look to award public contracts, the “Fairness in Bidding Act” would also tighten the requirements when municipalities, schools and other public entities opt to reject all of the bids that they received for a construction project.
