N.Y. DOCS Overhauls Religion Policy In Settlement

Law360, New York (January 22, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The New York State Department of Correctional Services agreed on Friday to implement a process for its employees to request religious accommodations, settling a lawsuit about a Muslim employee who was not allowed to wear a traditional skullcap.

The lawsuit was filed by the U.S. Department of Justice last year on behalf of Muslim employee Abdus Samad Haqq.
