Immigration Reform Bill Advances To Senate Debate

Law360, New York (June 11, 2013, 8:50 PM ET) -- Proposed legislation aimed at overhauling U.S. immigration law cleared a key hurdle Monday when an overwhelming majority of senators voted to kick off what is expected to be a contentious debate over the bill.

The Senate agreed to debate the comprehensive immigration reform bill known as the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act in an 84-15 vote, in which all 54 Democrats and 30 Republicans voted in favor of considering the bill.
