State AGs Not Exempt From CAFA, LCD Cos. Tell High Court

Law360, New York (September 04, 2013, 6:51 PM ET) -- State attorneys general can't avoid the Class Action Fairness Act's intention to keep mass actions out of state courts, a host of electronics companies told the U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday in an appeal over a price-fixing suit.

The legislation was meant to curb the use of state courts for mass actions that rightly belonged in federal court by making it easier to remove suits to federal court, the brief said. Additionally, it doesn't include a carveout for state attorneys general suits like Mississippi Attorney General...
