Bloomberg Pushes For Tough NYC Building Code Post-Sandy

Law360, New York (June 13, 2013, 8:54 PM ET) -- New York Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg on Thursday laid out 33 new proposals to shore up the city's building code standards and building owner best practices, aiming to make the area more resilient against potential natural disasters like Hurricane Sandy.

The recommendations, which were forged by the Urban Green Council-led Building Resiliency Task Force, include tougher building codes for new buildings, new retrofit requirements and directives to have agencies work with building owners on emergency management plans, according to Bloomberg and City Council Speaker Christine Quinn....
