Pa. Gov. To Tap Appellate Judge For High Court Vacancy

Law360, New York (June 13, 2013, 8:45 PM EDT) -- Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett announced Friday that he will nominate state appeals court Judge Correale F. Stevens to fill the vacancy on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court created by the resignation of disgraced former Justice Joan Orie Melvin.

Stevens, of Sugarloaf in Luzerne County, is currently president judge of the state Superior Court, which handles criminal and civil appeals. If confirmed by the state Senate, he will serve on the Supreme Court until January 2016, with the election to fill the vacancy permanently taking place in November...
