IBM Engineer's Patent Suit Adds Trade Secret Claim

Law360, New York (January 24, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A former IBM Corp. engineer who has sued several companies over his patents for fixing computer data errors has been allowed to add a claim of trade secrets misappropriation against three defendants for allegedly passing infringing material to defendant Sony Electronics Inc.

Magistrate Judge David Nuffer of the U.S. District Court for the District of Utah granted a motion from the plaintiff, Phillip M. Adams, to amend his counterclaim against the third-party defendants, the Taiwanese companies ASUSTeK Computer Inc., Winbond Electronics Corp. and ITE Technology Inc....
