US-EU Trade Talks To Begin Next Month, Obama Says

Law360, New York (June 17, 2013, 7:12 PM EDT) -- President Barack Obama, British Prime Minister David Cameron and other European Union leaders said Monday negotiations would begin next month on a free trade agreement that could bring $107 billion into the U.S. economy.

The so-called Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership would boost trade and create jobs by reducing existing trade barriers and bringing regulatory regimes into agreement where possible. While short on specifics, the announcement, made at the G-8 summit in Lough Erne, Northern Ireland, reflects enthusiasm for such a deal in both the U.S....
