Deals Rumor Mill: Johnson Controls, Verizon, Apollo

Law360, New York (June 18, 2013, 1:12 PM EDT) -- Milwaukee conglomerate Johnson Controls Inc. is in talks with private equity firms over the potential $1 billion sale of its automotive electronics unit, sources told Reuters on Tuesday. The move comes after negotiations with several of the division's rivals collapsed on the heels of weaker-than-expected earnings. While auto parts makers Visteon Corp. and Delphi Automotive PLC are still among contenders for the unit, Johnson sought to widen its pool of prospective buyers by dipping into the private equity industry.
