EU Lawmakers Push For Fluorinated Gas Ban In ACs, Fridges

Law360, New York (June 20, 2013, 7:08 PM ET) -- A European Parliament panel on Wednesday supported a ban on the use of fluorinated greenhouse gases in new air conditioners and refrigerators by 2020, as well as fees that would be imposed against producers of the gases.

By a vote of 48 to 19, the Environment Committee advanced draft legislation that would also call for an 84 percent reduction of overall hydrofluorocarbon gas use by 2030.
