Fla. Justices Suspend Ex-Prosecutor Over Judge Relationship

Law360, Miami (June 20, 2013, 3:59 PM EDT) -- Former state prosecutor Howard Scheinberg, who had an undisclosed personal relationship with a judge presiding over a death penalty case he was trying, on Thursday received a two-year suspension from the Florida Supreme Court, which found his actions prejudiced the justice system.

The high court's ruling upheld a Florida Bar judicial referee's finding of misconduct but doubled the length of the recommended penalty against Scheinberg for his communications with former Broward County Judge Ana Gardiner, which began while she was presiding over a first-degree murder case...
