Sprint Trumps Dish With Sweetened $3.9B Clearwire Bid

Law360, New York (June 20, 2013, 3:23 PM EDT) -- Sprint Nextel Corp. on Thursday raised its offer for Clearwire Corp. to $5 per share, topping a rival bid from Dish Network Corp. and extending the bidding war for the struggling wireless operator.

Clearwire said Sprint's new bid, which values the half of Clearwire it doesn't already own at about $3.9 billion, is superior to Dish's $4.40-per-share offer. The company is urging shareholders to vote in favor of the Sprint deal, and has rescheduled a meeting set for Monday until July 8 to give them time...
