Carbon Tax Wins Support From Research Council

Law360, New York (June 21, 2013, 4:43 PM ET) -- A federal report published Thursday concluded that taxing carbon emissions would be the most effective way to reduce greenhouse gases as an alternative to current federal tax provisions that have brought only limited emissions reductions.

Responding to a congressional request to evaluate the impact of tax policy on air pollution, the National Research Council found that policies that directly go after emissions rather than subsidizing ethanol and other biofuels represented the best strategy for cutting greenhouse gases.
