NLRB Finds Quicken Employment Policies Unlawful

Law360, New York (June 25, 2013, 8:10 PM EDT) -- The National Labor Relations Board on Monday upheld an administrative law judge's ruling that that provisions of Quicken Loans Inc.'s employment agreement with its mortgage bankers aimed at protecting confidential information and keeping employees from criticizing the company ran afoul of federal labor law.

The labor board said it agreed with Administrative Law Judge Judge Joel P. Biblowitz's Jan. 8 findings that the agreement's confidential information and nondisparagement provisions violated the National Labor Relations Act because they could be construed as restricting employees' rights to engage...
