Marriott Housekeepers Sue Over Missed Breaks

Law360, New York (June 26, 2013, 12:50 PM EDT) -- Marriott International Inc. was hit with a proposed class action Tuesday in California state court by an employee for a Courtyard by Marriott hotel, who said the company denied its cleaning staff rest breaks and gave them wage statements that didn’t reflect all the hours they worked.

The suit said the company, which operates 3,000 hotels worldwide, was aware that its housekeepers and house aides were working through their rest periods, but failed to pay them for the extra work they were putting in each day....
