Judge To Increase Schlumberger Unit's $106M Patent Award

Law360, Houston (June 26, 2013, 5:44 PM EDT) -- A Texas federal judge has agreed to tack on an additional award of damages to a jury's $106 million verdict against Ion Geophysical Corp. for infringing seismic surveying patents held by a subsidiary of oil field services provider Schlumberger Ltd.

U.S. District Judge Keith P. Ellison ruled June 19 that WesternGeco LLC is entitled to supplemental damages for sales of its DigiFin system that incorporated infringing technology Ion did not reveal at the time of trial, in addition to court costs and prejudgment interest.
