Apple Asks USTR To Veto Import Ban On Early IPhones

Law360, New York (June 26, 2013, 7:35 PM EDT) -- Apple Inc. has asked the U.S. trade representative to veto a U.S. International Trade Commission order barring imports of older iPhone models found to infringe a Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. standard-essential patent, saying the ITC exceeded its authority.

The June 4 exclusion order, which is subject to review by the president, was the first time the ITC has ordered an import ban based on an essential patent and "will have grave consequences if left unchanged," Apple said in the June 19 filing.
