5 New Rights For Employees In Same-Sex Marriage

Law360, New York (June 26, 2013, 6:10 PM ET) -- The U.S. Supreme Court’s mandate for federal recognition of lawful same-sex marriages means that employers must start offering many common benefits to employees in such marriages.

Occasionally, this will relieve a burden: Some companies have devised salary “gross-ups” and similar workarounds to equalize treatment of employees in same-sex marriages; such contortions will no longer be needed.
