Honolulu Whistleblower Wins $3M Jury Award

Law360, New York (January 28, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A jury has awarded $3 million to a former Honolulu official who alleged that she was fired after taking issue with the way the city interfered with her authority.

On Friday, a state trial court in Honolulu awarded Nancy Olipares, the director of the Oahu Workforce Investment Board from 2000 to 2003, $1 million in lost wages and retirement benefits and $2 million in general damages.
