Fed. Circ. Resurrects Rambus Memory Patent

Law360, New York (June 28, 2013, 4:03 PM EDT) -- The Federal Circuit on Friday breathed new life into a memory controller patent that Rambus Inc. had asserted against Broadcom Corp. and other electronics makers, reversing the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office's finding that the patent was invalid as anticipated by an earlier patent.

The appeals court ruled in a 2-1 decision that the USPTO's Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences decision to toss all 25 claims of Rambus' U.S. Patent Number 7,287,109 was not supported by “substantial evidence”.
