Broadband Provider Can't Shake FCA Suit Over $45M Grant

Law360, New York (June 28, 2013, 6:29 PM EDT) -- A Missouri federal judge on Friday refused to toss a False Claims Act whistleblower suit against Bluebird Network LLC alleging it falsely obtained a $45 million government grant reserved for providing broadband to underserved areas, finding that a former employee adequately stated his claims.

U.S. District Judge Nanette Laughrey rejected Bluebird's arguments that a former employee's qui tam complaint lacked enough detail about alleged misrepresentations in the company's pursuit of the grant, according to the order.
