Fed. Circ. Gives Convolve's Compaq Patent Suit New Life

Law360, New York (July 1, 2013, 5:05 PM EDT) -- The Federal Circuit on Monday revived part of Convolve Inc.'s long-running hard disk patent suit against Hewlett-Packard Co., ruling that a lower court wrongly held that the latter's Compaq unit did not infringe a Convolve patent.

The appeals court sent the case back to the lower court for further proceedings but affirmed the lower court's findings that a second patent is invalid and that Compaq and co-defendant Seagate Technology LLC did not misappropriate Convolve's trade secrets.
