Lupin Hit With Suit Over Generic Prezista

Law360, New York (July 2, 2013, 2:43 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the board of trustees for the University of Illinois slapped Lupin Ltd. with a patent infringement lawsuit Monday for allegedly trying to create and market generic versions of HIV drug Prezista.

HHS and the board say a patent they hold in the drug — U.S. Patent Number 7,470,506 B1 — will be infringed and they will be substantially and irreparably harmed if Lupin, which has sought U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval for Prezista generics, isn't blocked...
