France, Germany Propose End-Run Around Unbundling

Law360, New York (January 29, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- In an effort to prevent a forced unbundling of their national utility giants, France and Germany will present a joint initiative this week to introduce more competition into their respective energy markets without relinquishing control of those markets to the European Commission.

The alternative plan would keep oversight of energy production and transmission strictly within national boundaries.
