Calpine Withdraws From U.S. Supreme Court Case

Law360, New York (January 29, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Bankrupt energy company Calpine Corp. has withdrawn from a U.S. Supreme Court case after resolving a dispute that arose when it repudiated a 400-megawatt transmission service agreement with electric utility Nevada Power Co.

On Monday, the Supreme Court granted Calpine's motion to dismiss the writ of certiorari. The case remains active, however, with respect to the other plaintiffs, including Morgan Stanley Capital Group Inc., Sempra Energy, Allegheny Energy Supply Co. and American Electric Power Service Corp.
