Internet Cafe Challenges Florida's Slot Machine Ban

Law360, Miami (July 2, 2013, 10:30 PM EDT) -- An Internet cafe filed a lawsuit Friday in Miami state court targeting Florida's recent effort to ban gray-market slot machines, saying the new measures are unconstitutional and unfairly impact legitimate businesses.

The state moved swiftly and cast a wide net during the spring legislative session after a $300 million scandal involving Internet sweepstakes cafes and a phony charity prompted the resignation of Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll in March.
