Obama Looks To Cut IG Vacancies With Recent Nominations

Law360, New York (July 3, 2013, 5:01 PM EDT) -- Although President Barack Obama chose a nominee to fill the long-vacant position of State Department inspector general days after Republicans prodded him on the empty position, four other agencies are still waiting for IG nominees.

Obama nominated Steve Linick, currently the inspector general for the Federal Housing Finance Agency, on June 28. The State Department job has been vacant since before Obama took office,and is the longest-running IG vacancy, according to the Project on Government Oversight, which tracks IG vacancies.
