NJ Court Urged To OK Same-Sex Marriage After DOMA Ruling

Law360, New York (July 03, 2013, 5:57 PM ET) -- The plaintiffs in a lawsuit challenging New Jersey’s civil union law filed for summary judgment in state court on Wednesday, hoping momentum from the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling against the Defense of Marriage Act will prompt the legalization of same-sex marriage in New Jersey.

Attorneys representing the advocacy group Garden State Equality, six New Jersey same-sex couples and their families filed the motion on Wednesday, urging a judge to circumvent a trial and rule that New Jersey should immediately legalize same-sex marriage.
