EU Biofuel Production Is Inefficient, Report Says

Law360, New York (July 03, 2013, 6:45 PM ET) -- The current mix of crops used for European biofuel production isn't favorable to the environment and a broader mix of crops should be used to make production more resource-efficient, according to a report released by the European Union's environmental research arm.

The European Environment Agency report, released on July 3, concluded that production of bioenergy used for heating, electricity or transportation should follow EU resource efficiency principles, which means extracting more energy from the same source crops and avoiding negative environmental effects potentially caused by bioenergy...
