Camico Needn't Defend Accounting Firm, Judge Says

Law360, Philadelphia (July 3, 2013, 3:58 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania federal judge has ruled that Camico Mutual Insurance Co. is no longer on the hook to defend accounting firm Heffler Radetich & Saitta LLP in lawsuits stemming from a former employee's role in a $40 million scheme to defraud class action settlement funds.

In a decision handed down on June 27, U.S. District Judge Jan DuBois concluded that the criminal acts perpetrated by former Heffler Radetich accountant Christian J. Penta fell under sublimits in the insurance policy that capped the insurer's responsibility at $100,000....
