HCA, Partner Pay $1M To End Radiation Therapy FCA Claims

Law360, New York (July 09, 2013, 2:38 PM ET) -- For-profit medical care provider HCA Inc. and a company partner have agreed to collectively pay more than $1 million to settle a False Claims Act suit brought by a former employee and the U.S. government alleging they overcharged Medicare and TRICARE for radiation oncology procedures at a Georgia hospital.

In settlement agreements unsealed July 3, HCA, which operates Doctor’s Hospital of Augusta LLC, and Oncology Associates, which helps operate the hospital’s oncology center, agreed to pay $645,000 and $375,000, respectively, to settle allegations that they overbilled...
