EU Fines E.ON €38M For Breaking Evidence Seal

Law360, New York (January 30, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Germany energy behemoth E.ON AG has been fined €38 million for tampering with an official seal during dawn raids on its offices last year, despite the company's protests that the seal was not been broken on purpose.

A seal on a door in the energy company's German offices was found broken the day after EC and German inspectors raided the company as part of a Europe-wide probe of competition in the energy sector.
