House Dem Wants $150M USPTO Sequester Cuts Blocked

Law360, New York (July 10, 2013, 1:47 PM EDT) -- Rep. Mike Honda, D-Calif., on Wednesday urged the U.S. House of Representatives to alter budget legislation to block $150 million in sequester cuts to the fee-funded U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

At a subcommittee markup hearing for the $47.5 billion appropriations bill for commerce, justice, and science in 2014 — which was ultimately approved and sent to the full committee — Honda repeated his previous warnings that the cuts would leave the agency dangerously underfunded.
