Taiwan, New Zealand Sign Free Trade Pact

Law360, New York (July 10, 2013, 2:59 PM EDT) -- Taiwan signed a free trade agreement with New Zealand on Tuesday, the first such deal the country has reached with a developed economy.

Taiwan — formally the Republic of China — has preferential trade deals with Panama and several other developing nations in Latin America and an economic cooperation pact with mainland China, but the deal reached with New Zealand is the first with a developed nation and the first with a country that does not maintain diplomatic relations with Taiwan.
