Google, Expedia, Costco Can't Dodge Mobile Patent Suit

Law360, Los Angeles (July 12, 2013, 9:16 PM ET) -- A Texas federal judge on Thursday rejected a bid by Google Inc., Costco Wholesale Corp. and Expedia Inc. to escape an infringement suit over a mobile website software patent, overruling arguments that the patent is invalid.

In a motion for summary judgment filed in Texas federal court in June, Google and other defendants argued that plaintiff EMG Technology LLC’s patent for a software mechanism that allows users to view Web content on a touch screen mobile device is not specific enough to be enforceable.
