Pirelli's Chairman Found Guilty In Corporate Spying Case

Law360, New York (July 17, 2013, 3:02 PM ET) -- Pirelli & C. SpA Chairman Marco Tronchetti Provera was reportedly found guilty Wednesday of receiving stolen information in an industrial spying case that stemmed from a battle to take over a Brazilian telecom company.

A Milan judge gave Tronchetti a suspended prison sentence of 20 months and was ordered to pay €900,000 ($1.2 million) to Telecom Italia SpA for allegedly receiving a DVD with information concerning Brazilian asset manager Banco Opportunity in 2004, the Wall Street Journal said.
