Judge Stays VoIP Patent MDL For Re-Examination

Law360, New York (July 17, 2013, 6:58 PM EDT) -- A Delaware federal judge on Wednesday stayed multidistrict litigation over whether AT&T Inc. and more than a dozen other major companies infringed patented Voice over Internet Protocol technology, halting the case while the patent at issue is re-examined.

U.S. District Judge Gregory M. Sleet rejected opposition from nonpracticing plaintiff Bear Creek Technologies Inc. and put the sprawling litigation — 15 cases cases have been consolidated into the MDL — on hold while the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office rechecks the company's patent.
