Aventine Sues 3 Ethanol Producers Over Soured Contracts

Law360, New York (July 18, 2013, 3:48 PM EDT) -- Aventine Renewable Energy Inc. lodged three lawsuits Wednesday accusing ethanol producers of shirking contracts inked before the Illinois company entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2009, claiming they together owe more than $8.7 million in claims over unpaid train rentals.

The trio of complaints follows the dismissal of similar adversarial suits in Delaware bankruptcy court Tuesday, after the judge found that the court lacked jurisdiction.
