Schindler Can't Ax €143M Elevator Cartel Fine

Law360, New York (July 18, 2013, 7:10 PM ET) -- The European Union's highest court on Thursday rejected Schindler Holding Ltd.'s appeal of its €143.7 million ($188.4 million) cartel fine despite the Swiss elevator manufacturer's claims that it didn't get a fair trial before an impartial judiciary.

Schindler raised more than a dozen challenges to its fine, ranging from the fact that it was held liable for its subsidiaries' conduct to the validity of the European Commission's fining guidelines.
